Turbidity Meter – TurbSense®

Turbidity Meter – TurbSense®

TurbSense® Online Turbidity Meters from Pi offer advanced analysers, controllers, and monitors designed to measure true online turbidity and suspended solids in water. Using nephelometric measurement of scattered light in compliance with ISO 7027, TurbSense® ensures accurate and reliable results. The sensor utilizes LED optical technology, providing an extremely stable, low-maintenance solution for turbidity monitoring.

A key innovation of the TurbSense® online turbidity meter is its ability to automatically adjust the light output, allowing turbidity to be measured independently of external background light and electronic drift. This ensures consistent, high-precision measurements even in challenging environments.

Ranging from 0.01 NTU to 1000 NTU with a resolution in the 0-10 NTU range of 0.001, the TurbSense® online turbidity meter provides:

Excellent resolution
Single point calibration
The simplicity of a probe
Great value for money
Long term reliability
Auto clean so very low maintenance

Key Benefits

Auto Clean Solid-State Optical Sensor: No moving parts, reducing wear and maintenance.
Single Point Calibration: Simple to use with minimal setup.
Stable and Reliable: Excellent for consistent process control.
Wide Application Range: Suitable for all potable, waste, and process waters from 0 NTU to 1000 NTU.
Low Maintenance: 'Maintenance-free' design, ensuring a low cost of ownership.
No Zero Calibration Required: Enhanced accuracy at low turbidity levels.
Long Calibration Interval: Up to 1 year between calibrations with minimal drift.
Pressure Tolerance: Can operate at up to 10 bar for inline processes.
High Resolution: Offers a 0.001 NTU resolution.
Bubble-Free Measurement: Automatic DE bubbling and bubble removal solutions prevent interference from bubbles.

The TurbSense® online turbidity meters come with multiple controller options, offering flexibility in communication, display, and control. With TurbSense®, you get exactly what you need—without excess features—while maintaining high-quality measurement.

Applications

TurbSense® is ideal for a wide range of applications where turbidity levels range from 0.01 NTU to 1000 NTU (approximately 0-2000 mg/l, depending on the application). It is particularly suited for:

Raw Water Inlet
Settled Water Turbidity
Final Water Turbidity
Waste Water Effluent Turbidity
Fire Hydrant Monitoring
Swimming Pool Clarity Monitoring

Options

Options for the TurbSense® include;

Flow cell
DE bubbler + flow cell
Pressure flow cell
Dip mounting kit
Solid secondary standard

The TurbSense® is designed to mount in a flow cell. The choice of flow cell will depend upon whether you have bubbles in your sample, what sort of bubbles and whether or not you need to put the measured sample back into the process. However, the TurbSense® can be dip mounted in an open tank. Whilst this is possible, great care must be taken to avoid bubbles and stray light. In very clean water, it will be necessary to use a sun light shield. In addition the TurbSense® can be supplied with a solid secondary standard, for calibrating or checking the calibration.
